Ambassador Huang Yong Attended the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Mandarin Course of the Confucius Institute at USP

H.E. Ambassador Huang Yong attended the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Mandarin Course of the Confucius Institute at USP. Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice Chancellor and President of USP, Director Li Denggui and Director Sin Joan Yee of the Confucius Institute also attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Huang expressed his congratulations in his speech. He pointed out that with the booming of the friendly cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and Fiji, there has been growing demand for Chinese language and culture learning in the local society. The Confucius Institute at USP offers chances for local people to learn the Chinese language and better understand China. It provides a platform for educational and cultural exchanges. It is also a bridge for people to people contacts and exchanges. Ambassador Huang expressed his gratitude to Professor Chandra and the USP side for their contribution to the establishment of this Institute.

In his speech, Professor Chandra highly commended the great economic achievements made by China and pointed out that the establishment of the Confucius Institute at USP is the milestone in the history of exchanges between USP and the Chinese side. He hoped, with the USP covering 12 countries, the establishment of the Confucius Institute will promote the engagement between China and the South Pacific region. Director Li Denggui and Director Sin Joan Yee also made speeches during the ceremony. They expressed congratulations and encouragements to the newly enrolled students. They said that all the staff of the Confucius Institute will teach with full passion in a responsible and earnest attitude.

Accompanied by Professor Chandra, Ambassador Huang cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony.
